It's hard to even go online or open a magazine these days without coming across an article that describes the benefits of CBD oil. But what these articles do not always tell you is how you're expected to use their products. The are CBD products that you can vaporize or rub on your skin, but the most common method is still ingesting the CBD. The way you ingest it matters. Here are some tips to help you maximize your benefits.
1. Take the CBD under your tongue.
Although swallowing CBD will give you some benefits, a better method is to place the oil directly under your tongue and hold it there for about a minute before you swallow it. This allows some of the CBD to pass through the delicate skin beneath your tongue and into your bloodstream. The taste may not be that great, but you'll get used to it! If you feel tempted to swallow during this waiting period, try distracting yourself by doing something with your hands -- like squeezing a stress ball or playing a game on your phone.
2. Take it on an empty stomach.
The best time to take CBD orally is in the morning when you first get up, before you eat or drink anything. This enables your body to more easily absorb the CBD you do consume. Wait about 20 minutes before eating or drinking anything. Many people like to keep the CBD by their bedside and administer it while they are still in bed. Then, they get up and do their morning routine; by the time they are done, they can eat breakfast.
3. Start with a low dose.
It's hard to say how much CBD you'll need to take. Some people need to take 5 drops; others need 20. It's best to start with a low dose, like five drops, and see how you feel. If the CBD is not having the desired effect, try 10 drops — then 15. This way, you are not wasting CBD oil by taking more than you really need.
