Your Budget Shopping Guide

Hello fellow shoppers, my name is Kara Lyons and you've arrived at my shopping blog. Make no mistake, I absolutely love to shop and when I'm not working I'm in the city shopping at my favorite stores. Since I shop often, I've learned how to spot the best bargains and I also know the best times to buy certain items. I hardly ever pay full price for anything I buy and I always take advantage of in store coupons and promotions. My love of shopping began when I was little and I would tag along behind my mom while she shopped. When I got old enough to shop for myself, I began to discover ways to get more for my money. If you also enjoy shopping, but you're on a budget, read my blog to learn how you can get the things you want and need without breaking the bank.

Why Galvanize Your Kitchenware? Pros And Cons For The Consumer

by Rebecca Simmons

The galvanized kitchenware that you frequently see in commercial kitchens has made its way into the homes of America. Some people really like the look of the galvanized steel appliances in their kitchens. Others just want the galvanized appliances for the special attributes that galvanization provides. Here are the pros and cons of galvanizing kitchen products, in case you were considering them for purchase.

Pros

Never Rusts

The zinc coating process that takes plain steel to galvanized steel also prevents it from ever rusting. This is excellent news for anyone who owns a home where spills and splatters in the kitchen are likely to occur on every surface. From water to spaghetti sauce, you never have to worry about any spill or splatter causing a rust stain on the appliances in question.

Very Easy to Clean and Maintain

Galvanized kitchen items are extremely easy to clean. Because they are metal, you can wipe them off with just a wet rag when spills and splatters are fresh. When the spills and splatters are not fresh, a little glass cleaner or multi-surface cleaner will remove dried-on foodstuffs. Maintaining these items requires no extra special cleaners or steps, and it is very difficult to scratch or dent these appliances and kitchen items. They are very durable.

Cons

Not Very Pretty

The industrial look is how most people might describe galvanized steel appliances. They are not always pretty to look at, even when they are buffed and shined, but that does depend on your taste. Silver steel is likely your only color choice, although some manufacturers occasionally offer plastic handles made from different colors just to give these items a little more color and personality.

Not as Wildly Popular as You Might Think

While you may love the look of galvanized steel items in your kitchen, it may not go over quite so well with house hunters and buyers, who would probably prefer different styles and colors of appliances and kitchenware. You (and your real estate agent) could try to sell the "pros" of galvanized steel, or you could just take your galvanized steel items with you to the next home. Doing the latter allows buyers a chance to install their own preferred appliances and kitchen items of choice while still enjoying the rest of the kitchen's features.
