Your Budget Shopping Guide

Hello fellow shoppers, my name is Kara Lyons and you've arrived at my shopping blog. Make no mistake, I absolutely love to shop and when I'm not working I'm in the city shopping at my favorite stores. Since I shop often, I've learned how to spot the best bargains and I also know the best times to buy certain items. I hardly ever pay full price for anything I buy and I always take advantage of in store coupons and promotions. My love of shopping began when I was little and I would tag along behind my mom while she shopped. When I got old enough to shop for myself, I began to discover ways to get more for my money. If you also enjoy shopping, but you're on a budget, read my blog to learn how you can get the things you want and need without breaking the bank.

How To Save When Shopping At The Mall

by Rebecca Simmons

Chances are, you know plenty of ways to save when shopping online. You compare prices on various websites, and you always look for a discount code. But what about at the mall? It is possible to also save money when shopping in-person? Actually, it is. The following are some smart ways to save when shopping at the mall.

1. Shop for clothing in the middle of the season.

Malls mark down seasonal clothing long before the season is over. For example, they'll mostly sell summer clothing in the spring. By the time summer actually arrives, the summer clothing is marked down and the fall clothing is what's being featured. You can save quite a lot of money by simply waiting until the middle of the season to shop.

2. Browse several stores first.

Just as you check several websites before buying something online, you should check several stores before buying something at the mall. You don't want to pay $40 for that white sweater, only to find a nearly identical white sweater a few stores over for $30.

With so many stores, it's not always clear which ones you should check, but here's a reasonable strategy. Write down each item you are looking for. Then write down the top three stores you think may have it. Checking three stores doesn't take too long and at least lets you do some reasonable price comparisons.

3. Stay away from the food court.

It's common for shoppers to waste money not on actual purchases, but on food! Unless you have pre-planned to grab lunch in the food court, just stay away. It's a lot easier to say "no" to that cinnamon pretzel or orange shake when you don't even walk by it.

4. Download a discount app.

There are several apps that offer discounts and cash rebates for in-person purchases. Look around for one that functions with your local mall, or at least with the stores you visit most often inside the mall. The rewards you get with such an app can be pretty substantial. Sometimes the app might have a "special" where they offer an extra percentage of rewards. Watch for these events and try to do your mall shopping when they take place.

It is possible to save money when shopping at a mall. Employ the tips above, and you can enjoy that mall shopping experience without breaking the bank or emptying your wallet.
